Arizona DOT is using Context Sensitive Design process and innovative techniques and products in the reconstruction of SR 179 Project in Sedona, Arizona. Reconstruction work on this 3.5 mile segment will widen the two-lane undivided outdated highway to a modern two lane, multimodal divided highway that includes six roundabouts, dedicated bike lanes and transit stops, and numerous pedestrian facilities. The project’s goal is to maintain the unique scenic and economic factors of the community during construction and beyond. The showcase event will highlight the extensive community outreach efforts, use of roundabouts, and other innovations ADOT implemented on the SR 179 Project.
This showcase will feature speakers from ADOT, FHWA, and Contractors who have been intimately involved with the project and will feature presentations on Highways for LIFE, Community Outreach, and Construction of Roundabouts. An Open Panel discussion will wrap up the event for you to personally ask questions of all of the speakers.
